This project involved replacing the aging vinyl decking while preserving and refreshing the existing railings. The railings were carefully removed and set aside so the old vinyl surface could be torn off and disposed of. The siding along the walls was lifted to fully remove the original membrane.
Any rotten wood discovered during the process was replaced to ensure a solid base for the new surface. A new vinyl membrane will be installed across the deck with flush-mount seams and new PVC-coated flashing for long-term protection.
Although the original plan was to reinstall the existing railings as they were, they were found to be in great condition. The homeowner approved sanding and staining them before reinstalling, giving the deck a refreshed finish.
